Considering the Benefits of FAME

Attended the Atlanta MMUG meeting last night. We were presented with a fantastic and thought provoking talk about starting and growing your own business by Justin Beals of Roundbox Media.

After this Leif spoke discussed the use of Flashout, ASDT, MTASC, and Eclipse (FAME) in developing Flash projects. Beside the handy use of Eclipse for many tasks during production such as starting and stopping servers and monitoring databases, it was a discussion about the benefits of MTASC in compiling ActionScript.

What I got out of it was that MTASC is an excellent tool for AS2 coders to use with their favorite IDE (Eclipse, SE|PY, etc). It makes compiling a snap compared to the chugging old Flash IDE. The consensus though was that you should ALWAYS do your final compilation with Flash. In my definite future use of MTASC (with SE|PY), I would probably do a safety compile in Flash two to three times a day.
